KOMAI: Your preferred green printing partner
As a contemporary advanced model, the core of green printing is that printing companies use environmentally friendly paper, specific inks and special processes, aiming to reduce pollution during the printing process, protect natural resources and save industrial energy. What’s more, these printed products can be effectively recycled and reused after use.
As a leader in the printing industry and an advocate of social responsibility, KOMAI always adheres to the core concept of green printing. We are committed to comprehensively promoting and implementing green printing in paper, ink, design, manufacturing, packaging and logistics to promote the construction of a sustainable world.
Choosing KOMAI is not only choosing high-quality printing products, but also choosing a commitment to the earth and the future.
KOMAI: Practice green printing and use environmentally friendly inks and soy inks
In the printing process, all offset inks, electronic inks, UV inks, etc. used by KOMAI are sourced from high-quality suppliers with environmental certification. These inks not only ensure excellent printing results, but are also extremely environmentally friendly.
To meet increasingly stringent environmental standards, our inks undergo a series of rigorous tests, including detection of heavy metals. We follow the EU RoHS directive and strictly control the content of six substances including Cd, Pb, Hg, Cr6+, PBBs and PBDEs. Specifically, the cadmium, lead, mercury and Cr6+ contents in the ink must meet the following standards:
Cd: ≤100mg/kg
Pb: ≤1000mg/kg
Hg: ≤1000mg/kg
Cr6+: ≤1000mg/kg
To prove our commitment and strength, KOMAI is ready to provide RoHS test reports of inks to transparently display the specific content of various heavy metals. We firmly believe that true green printing lies not only in ideas, but also in practical actions and continuous improvement.
KOMAI: Strictly detect aromatic hydrocarbons to ensure product safety
Aromatic hydrocarbons are harmful to humans and may release pungent odors during the printing process. KOMAI follows RoHs and Reach SVHC standards and strictly tests the aromatic hydrocarbon content in inks to ensure product safety and protect the health of operating workers.
KOMAI: Strictly control VOCs and advocate green printing
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are organic compounds with boiling points between 50°C and 260°C at room temperature. They pose a threat to human health and the atmospheric environment and are an important cause of urban smog. Countries and even cities have different restrictions on VOCs. For example, China’s GB38507-2020 standard stipulates that the VOCs content of inkjet printing inks must not exceed 30%.
In response to social, environmental and employee health concerns, KOMAI specifically selects soy inks certified by the American Soybean Association (ASA) for high-volume offset printing production. As edible oil, soybean oil can be naturally decomposed and recycled, and is rich in resources and low cost. Ink made from soybeans not only produces excellent printing results, but also fully complies with all printing industry standards.
The advantages of soy ink lie in its excellent friction resistance, heat resistance, bright color, and excellent inkability. KOMAI is committed to contributing to green printing by using this environmentally friendly material.
KOMAI: Advocate green printing and use environmentally friendly and renewable paper
Environmentally friendly paper needs to meet three major criteria: use sustainably grown wood as raw material, support recycling to reduce waste, and be biodegradable to avoid environmental pollution. KOMAI is well aware that the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an industry authority, and its certification ensures the legality and environmental protection of paper sources.
We firmly support FSC-certified environmentally friendly paper. Its raw materials are strictly regulated by FSC and are superior to ordinary paper from both the perspective of environmental protection and printing quality. FSC certified paper is divided into three categories: FSC 100% guarantees that product wood comes entirely from FSC certified forests; FSC recycled materials are made from recycled materials, which may not necessarily come from certified forests, but also meet environmental standards; FSC mixed materials are made from a variety of sources A mix of FSC wood, recycled materials or other regulated wood reflects diversity and inclusion.
Choosing environmentally friendly and renewable paper is not only KOMAI’s commitment to green printing, but also our comprehensive consideration of the environment, society and economy. We firmly believe that only by continuing to promote green printing can we achieve truly sustainable development.
KOMAI emphasizes green binding design
We are well aware of the importance of binding design and green printing. In cooperation with customers, we provide professional and environmentally friendly design solutions, including: prominently displaying environmentally friendly icons, using soft print proofs, controlling ink coverage, using FSC certified paper and soy ink, reducing paper waste, and avoiding the use of inappropriate Processes that facilitate recycling. These measures demonstrate our commitment to environmental protection and expertise to ensure sustainable development.
KOMAI’s path to green printing and authoritative certification
In the journey of promoting green printing, KOMAI actively adopts and plans to adopt the following authoritative certifications to demonstrate our firm commitment to environmental protection:
- FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification: This certification is for forest management units, and their management performance is audited by an independent third party to ensure that they meet sustainable management standards. We adopt this certification to ensure the environmental protection and sustainability of raw materials from the source.
- Soy Ink Printing Logo: This logo indicates that our prints are made with soy ink and are strictly approved by the American Soybean Association (ASA). This not only reflects our use of environmentally friendly materials, but also demonstrates our innovation and pursuit of printing technology.
- Sustainable recycling logo: We feature this logo on our packaging to encourage recipients to reuse the packaging rather than throw it away. In addition, this logo also indicates that our product packaging is made of renewable materials, which is conducive to environmental protection and the sustainable development of the earth.
These certifications and marks are not only our commitment to green printing, but also our insistence on professional quality and environmental responsibility.
KOMAI is committed to reducing plastic use and promoting green packaging and logistics
In the field of packaging and logistics, KOMAI actively practices the concept of green printing. We are committed to reducing the use of plastic, so we offer eco-friendly packaging such as paper sleeves and kraft paper bags as an alternative to traditional plastic shrink wrap. Although this change may seem small, given our huge production scale, its contribution is very significant.
This move not only reflects our commitment to environmental protection, but also demonstrates our determination to promote sustainable development in the industry. By reducing our use of plastic, we play our part in creating a greener, more sustainable future.
